Access Widening for Safe Entry to Nursery
RMS Townsville was engaged by the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation to undertake Entry Road Access Widening to the Biodiversity Nursery. The Girringun Biodiversity Project is funded through the Australian Government’s Caring for Country Program and Department of Environment and Energy. It involves restoration of habitats and corridors of endangered species such as Tree Kangaroo, Mahogany Gliders and Cassowary; control of pest weeds, revegetation of areas damaged by natural disasters such as cyclones and the collection and propagation of local endemic plants, trees and grasses for use in revegetation work.
The works were undertaken in very close proximity to the Bruce Highway at Damper Creek. Being a Main Roads asset all works carried out were required to be done so as per Main Roads Permit requirements and Specifications.
