Laclo Irrigation Manatuto District

This project was intended to rehabilitate the existing 1.63km of irrigation system to supply the Manatuto District farmland.

The project was completed within 14 weeks ( 6 weeks ahead of schedule) including additional variation orders. Manpower on site was predominantly made up of Timorese workers, skilled and unskilled.


  • 167m concrete siphon laid 5 meters below the existing river bed.
  • 191m concrete culvert canal laid 3 meters below existing ground level
  • 2 drop structures and 1 scouring gates
  • Construction of concrete and masonry structures for river bank protection
